The 2-4 challenge

The 2-4 challenge is an attempt to capture the spirit of the Vancouver Slam’s Century Challenge where writers attempt to write 100 new poems in a row for $500. We at the Windsor Poetry Slam want to recreate some elements while capturing the intent of the challenge: to bring forth new slam poems, keeping the scene fresh, and injecting the scene with new amazing talent. Are you up for the Challenge?

The Rules:
  • Read 24 original poems without repeating a poem.
  • The poem must be read on a Windsor Poetry Slam stage. This excludes special events.
  • Feature Slots will count 2 poems you read.
  • There is no time limit to complete the challenge.
  • Amilcar will keep track of the poems but you must sign up with him before the slam.
  • Any sort of Slam Finals Night (Team Finals or Individuals) is exempt.
  • Fair Play (as taken from the Duncan Shields Outline) “One poem only when you’re on competition or on the open mic. You’re not allowed to go up and bust out 5 small poems, that’s cheating.”
  • Multiple people can finish.

The Reward:
A 2-4 or cash equivalent of $50 for those who do not drink, are illegible to drink, or just want cash.
